You do something remarkable. You make it possible for the individuals entrusted to our care to enjoy “a good life” while benefitting from the best medical and therapeutic care.

We are so fortunate to have tremendous support from individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations as well as public support from throughout our community. We can’t thank you enough.

This progress report is filled with members of the community coming together for the children and young adults of St. Mary’s Home and The Albero House. You’ll learn how, because of you:

• Children and young adults got out of their wheelchairs to fly
• Our artists in residence filled a gallery with their masterpieces
• The littlest children explored their community with their young friends who don’t have disabilities
• Special lighting, music and objects developed and delighted kids’ senses in a new space
• Kids breathed more easily because of new equipment
• And so much more.

In 2015, we celebrated something else made possible by our friends in the community: 10 years at our current location. On Feb. 11, 2005, we moved from a somewhat cramped 1960s-era building in downtown Norfolk to a light-filled building with twice the space, near Sentara Leigh Hospital. The project took six years, from planning and fundraising to designing to building — a massive undertaking that would not have happened without the support of individuals and organizations throughout our community.
