St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children Has New Communications Manager

NORFOLK, Va. – July 10, 2008 – Sonja Barisic, former Norfolk correspondent for The Associated Press, hasjoined St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children as the marketing communications manager.

Barisic reported for the AP, the world’s largest news-gathering organization, for 18 years. She worked in Cleveland,Ohio; Bismarck, N.D.; and Cincinnati, Ohio; before coming to Norfolk in 1996 to cover major events in southeast Virginia. A native of suburban Cleveland, she studied journalism in the interdisciplinary studies program at Miami University in Oxford,Ohio. She lives in Norfolk.

Established in 1944, St. Mary’s is the only facility of its kind in Virginia for children with severe disabilities. The Home offers a comprehensive range of residential, medical, therapeutic, educational and recreational services for children and young adults from birth to age 21.
