Our staff create and/or maintain most of your children’s equipment needs and monitor feeding programs. We customize and maintain and clean wheelchairs, fit children for splints to keep their limbs in alignment and adapt toys, which can be mounted on your child’s wheelchair tray and changed weekly.
We also work hard to make sure your child is healthy and comfortable. That job is being made easier with a grant St. Mary’s received from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to purchase a computerized pressure mapping seating system.
Sitting or lying down in one spot for too long can cause skin pressure problems. The pressure mapping system helps therapists find pressure points by providing objective information using data collected from sensors. We use the mapping system with all children, both in their wheelchairs and their beds, to find potential pressure problem areas long before problems can develop.
