2ST. MARY’S HOME FOR DISABLED CHILDREN TO HOST VISIT BY 2009 AZALEA FESTIVAL QUEEN

WHAT       Capt. Magdalena Dvorakova, queen of Norfolk’s 2009 International Azalea Festival, will tour St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and read to some of the children who live there. SMHDC is the only facility of its scope and size in Virginia, providing long-term residential care to children and young adults with severe disabilities.

WHEN       Thursday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

WHERE       St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, VA 23502

WHO       Army Capt. Magdalena Dvorakova currently works in the Military Office of Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic. She is only the second active-duty military member to serve as Queen Azalea.  The International Azalea Festival in April will recognize her country as its “Most Honored Nation.”
