WHAT       Twenty-one young adults who live at St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children will attend prom on Sunday, May 2. Students from Norfolk Academy will be their dates and also will decorate the Home’s Atrium for the event, St. Mary’s fifth annual prom.

WHEN     May 2, 3-4:30 p.m.

WHERE    Atrium, St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, Va., 23502

WHY     Prom is an opportunity for the older young adults who live at St. Mary’s to spend time with their peers who do not have disabilities while experiencing a ritual of youth in America. They will wear donated dresses or tuxedos rented by St. Mary’s Auxiliary Board, which also is paying for a DJ and flowers. There will be plenty of dancing and, of course, there will be a vote for king and queen.
