In this video, Direct Support Professional Karen Whitfield describes working with Kiki, who lives at St. Mary’s Home. And together they take a little walk!

Happy National DSP Recognition Week to all of the dedicated and compassionate direct support professionals (DSPs) at St. Mary’s Home and The Albero House!

Thank you to our DSPs for the incredible work you do! You work tirelessly with great dedication and compassion to make sure the children and young adults we serve are happy and healthy and enjoy a good life.

Karen Whitfield is one example of the many amazing DSPs at St. Mary’s Home.

Karen works very closely with Kiki. Born with a severe disability resulting in nutritional deficiencies, Kiki was four months old when she came to live at St. Mary’s Home. Thanks to expert and loving care from dedicated employees like Karen, Kiki has progressed so much since she graced the cover of our 2018 holiday appeal card.

Now 21 months old, Kiki has nearly doubled her weight, she is using basic sign language — and she’s walking! Watch the short video to meet Kiki and Karen and see them take a walk around Kiki’s neighborhood at St. Mary’s.

Support from donors like you helps children like Kiki grow and thrive through well-rounded care and unlimited love and compassion. You can help Kiki and other children and young adults with severe disabilities enjoy a good life. Donate now. Thank you!
