Occupational Therapy Support Services

Our team has a passion to ensure that every person we work with has the highest level of comprehensive and individualized equipment needed to be successful in everyday activities (occupations). Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants help people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.

At St. Mary’s Home, Occupational Therapy Support Services provides the foundation for the individuals’ independence through enhancing their highest levels of occupation. We do this by evaluating, creating, repairing and cleaning most of the adaptive equipment each individual needs. We create wheelchairs that allow mobility for someone who can’t walk and enhance postures for someone who can’t sit up without help. We create most of the splints that help feet, hands and trunks remain as flexible as possible so each individual can be dressed and bathed, go to school to learn, play with toys and electronics and participate in the community. We individualize toys by adding switches and mounting them for best access. We watch and teach staff the most effective way to help the individuals feed themselves. We also assist the school program in maintaining the high-tech systems that the individuals use to communicate.
