At St. Mary’s Home, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts and Behavior Technicians work with individuals who live at the Home and staff to customize treatment for everyone. We focus on current strengths and interests through consult, direct 1:1 therapy, and small social skills groups focusing on skill acquisition to increase contextually appropriate behavior while decreasing challenging behavior. We conduct assessments, offer guidelines and suggestions to promote the use of least restrictive interventions, and arrange the environment to optimize learning, communication, and independence.
We collaborate with guardians and other therapy departments in writing treatment plans that include skill acquisition goals based on empirical assessments to promote independence while experiencing success throughout the learning process. We firmly believe that every person has the ability to learn in a supportive environment in which they are happy, relaxed, and engaged.
