new director of behavior therapyNORFOLK, Va. (Sept. 20, 2019) — Casey Condon, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA, has joined St. Mary’s Home in the new position of Director of Behavior Therapy.

Condon is a board certified behavior analyst. As director or behavior therapy, she will help the nonprofit meet the needs of children and young adults who exhibit challenging behaviors mainly because of deficits in communication and social skills.

“Her knowledge of applied behavior analysis will be of great value to many of the children at the Home and add to the array of excellent services offered by the interdisciplinary team at St. Mary’s,” said Tom Laidlaw, behavioral program director at St. Mary’s Home.

Before coming to St. Mary’s, Condon was a special education teacher for Norfolk Public Schools for four years and Williamsburg James City County Public Schools for one year. Condon attended the University of Nebraska and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education in 2014. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a master’s degree in behavior analysis in 2017. She has lived in Hampton Roads since 2014.

Condon said that as a teacher, she had heard positive comments about what St. Mary’s provides for children with various abilities and needs. After she received her certification in 2018, she sought a change from the classroom. However, she still wanted to be in a supportive environment where people worked together to better children’s lives by teaching them valuable skills.

“From the moment I visited, I knew I would find that here at St. Mary’s,” Condon said.
