FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NORFOLK, Va. (July 17, 2015) — Defense contractor Valkyrie Enterprises, LLC of Virginia Beach supports warriors, much like the battle maidens of Norse mythology for which it is named. Valkyrie also supports the Hampton Roads community through philanthropy.
Valkyrie recently completed a $10,000 gift to The Albero House. St. Mary’s Home, which cares for children and young adults who have severe disabilities, opened The Albero House on its Norfolk campus to provide long-term residential care for adults 22 and over who have disabilities.
To mark the occasion, St. Mary’s CEO William C. Giermak and Director of Development Martha Price Stewart presented Valkyrie President and CEO Gary Lisota with a special token of gratitude: a colorful piece of “smash art” made by a family friend, 14-year-old Aidan. The teen, who lives at St. Mary’s, created the piece by dripping several colors of paint onto a piece of paper, covering that with a second piece of paper and then smashing the pieces together with his fist. (To watch a video of Aidan and Latrell, who also lives at St. Mary’s, creating smash art, see http://bit.ly/smashartsmh.)
“St. Mary’s ability to bring love and dignity to its residents has personally touched our Valkyrie family,” Lisota said. “I am proud and pleased to have Valkyrie give such support back to this noteworthy community organization.”
Giermak thanked Lisota for his personal interest in St. Mary’s, as well as the generosity of Valkyrie Enterprises. “Valkyrie’s support is helping adults who have severe disabilities receive the professional, compassionate around-the-clock care that St. Mary’s is known for providing children with disabilities,” Giermak said.
